Celebrating Women's Small Business Month

The landscape of small business ownership has seen a significant shift in the last decade, with women increasingly taking the helm. This trend is not just a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit of women but also a reflection of the changing dynamics of the business world. Women have always been critical to our workforce, and their talent as leaders is notable. Many female business owners shine in creativity, innovation, and compassion.

Women entrepreneurs face unique challenges, including the simple competition they may encounter with their male counterparts in the areas of business funding, support, and flexibility. They often find it challenging to balance business and family responsibilities and may even deal with judgment and criticism from other women. However, many women have turned these challenges into opportunities for growth, perseverance, and creativity to build successful companies that break through corporate walls and ceilings that once blocked their path.

There are more than 11 million woman-owned small businesses in America, a number that’s growing exponentially each year. Small businesses are the lifeblood of a community, and women-owned small businesses benefit their local communities in so many ways. They’re more likely to support local organizations and schools and provide jobs and economic boosts that keep local communities thriving. They also become role models for our next generation, demonstrating determination and passion in their career pursuits.

October is Women’s Small Business Month, which makes it the ideal time for Old Glory Bank to highlight female entrepreneurs we are proud to call business banking customers. Please join us on our blog this month as we highlight some inspiring women who are breaking barriers and setting new standards of excellence in the business world.
