President Trump’s August 2025 executive order cracking down on politically motivated debanking is an important defense of American freedoms. For too long, major financial institutions have quietly discriminated against conservatives, Christians, Second Amendment groups, and other values-driven Americans – closing accounts, denying services, and labeling traditional beliefs as “reputational risks.” This order finally calls out that abuse and demands accountability.
The issue of debanking is the very reason that Old Glory Bank exists. Our co-founders saw this alarming trend growing years ago and got to work. We built a bank that honored the Constitution and our country’s foundational freedoms; a bank that law-abiding Americans could trust not to cave to cancel culture.
At its heart, President Trump’s executive order is a bold and meaningful strike against debanking. Under this directive, federal regulators must stop banks from using vague reputational concerns to justify shutting out customers based on their political or religious views. The order also requires a full review of past closures, with penalties for institutions that engaged in ideological discrimination.
It's a win for transparency and accountability. The Big Banks are being called to answer for their decisions. But we should be cautious of the slippery slope ahead.
Old Glory Bank’s stance has always been, and continues to be, that government action is not the ultimate answer. What the country needs, and what Old Glory Bank offers, is a market solution. Americans need their choice of banks, so they can choose a bank that aligns with their values and supports their rights.
This is personal for President Trump, who says JPMorgan Chase forced him to close his accounts and then Bank of America rejected over $1 billion in deposits from him due to political bias. But it’s not just about him. It’s about every American who’s been silenced or sidelined by woke corporate agendas. Whether it’s firearms manufacturers and sporting goods stores, Christian nonprofits, or even passionate American voices, too many have been targeted simply for standing by their principles.
Many of those Americans have become customers of Old Glory Bank, thanks to our promise to never cancel a law-abiding citizen for exercising their legal rights. Praise God that they were free to make a choice – free to choose a bank that stands for faith, family, first responders, and our flag. What happens when that choice is unintentionally (or intentionally) squeezed out by regulations that “block” political bias in banking?
America needs more banks, not fewer. When regulations pile up, it becomes too difficult for smaller banks to operate under heavy regulatory requirements, and those banks close. At that point, the US is once again left with a collection of megabanks that have historically proven not only their bias, but their willingness to bend with trends and bow to pressure.
The Big Banks claim these closures are about compliance, not politics. Or sometimes claiming “an administrative mistake” when they are called out for their decisions. But the pattern is clear: conservative voices have been disproportionately affected. Trump’s order sends a powerful message: financial freedom is not negotiable, and weaponizing banking against political opponents will no longer be tolerated.
Let us not forget that administrations change. The trend of debanking began under government watch, and probably even from government pressure. Freedom-loving Americans cannot rest on one order and increased regulation to solve the problem. Now is the time to fortify the freedoms we need and deserve – the freedom to bank without fear of cancellation, and the freedom to choose a bank that stands in support of our values.
This is a win for liberty, fairness, and the rule of law. It’s also a reminder that leadership matters. When institutions and government forget their duty to serve all Americans equally, it takes bold action to restore balance. Trump’s action is an important battle won, but the war continues.
In summary, we do not believe these banks can change. If they did it once, they can do it again. Bank with a bank that was founded on fairness and freedom! Bank with Old Glory Bank.
